Bob will deliver when the job is done. _________________________________________________________________ 41st MADISON HISTORICAL SOCIETY ANTIQUES FAIR Madison, CT…Always popular and fun, for the 40 th year the Madison Historical Society will be producing the Saturday, August 25 th Antiques Fair on the Town Green in Madison, a lovely place on the Connecticut shore. This year Cord Shows Ltd. of Armonk, NY is managing the event. This collaboration has brought many new faces to the Green joining dealers who have requested their long-standing booth locations. Up to 90 dealers are anticipated with hours from 9 AM to 4 PM, rain or shine. Madison is easily reached from exit 61 off I-95. Signs will be posted. This is not just another show on the Green! George Neumann of North Attleboro, MA, will be autographing his books which include Swords and Blades of the American Revolution, Battle Weapons of the American Revolution, Collectors Illustrated Encyclopedia of the American Revolution and the out of print, History of Weapons of the American Revolution. Bob Gordon will be coming from Saratoga Springs, NY. He is an expert in the Old World talent of chair caning of all types and he can also repair wobbly furniture. Gordon will take the furniture with him and deliver when repaired so customers are urged to bring their “patients” along. Jeff Damberg , well-known artist who has done restoration work for galleries and museums, will be available to discuss art and frame restoration, also accepting work at the show. Another highlight of the day are four Booth Chats each lasting between 15 and 30 minutes. They include “For Furniture with a Future, Buy Furniture with a Past ,” offered at 10:30 AM by Diana Onyshkewych (Andrij Roman Antiques) of Brookfield, CT. Onyshkewych is an experienced auctioneer and co-owner with her husband, Andy, of Brookfield Auctions. At 11:30 “ How Old is That Bottle ” will be presented by Peter and Trish Manfredi (Domestic Cow Antiques) of South Glastonbury, CT. The Manfredis are Editors of the CT Directory of Dairies, Milk Bottles and Caps . They have been collecting antique bottles for over 30 years. At 1:00 PM Jeffrey Damberg , of Prospect, CT, will chat about “ Period Paintings, Artists, Times and Influences. ” As a working artist, Damberg has successfully completing over 240 commissions in the U.S. and abroad including murals, formal portraits, and custom landscapes and replicas of Masterworks. The final booth chat, “ Vintage Wrought Iron Furniture, Care and Restoration ,” will be offered by Joni Lima , Damariscotta, ME at 2:00 PM. Lima and Joe Spaider, partners in Iron Renaissance, specialize in vintage lawn and patio furniture featuring the maker, Salterini. They are highly regarded experts and their furniture is sought after for it's finely restored finish. An outstanding array of dealers from NY, CT, ME, RI, MA, FL, NJ and PA will bring oak furniture; 16 th -19 th C. maps of local, state and international interest; Audubon bird prints and natural history prints; oil lamps; Chintz; 1930's-50's kitchen, pantry and barware; vintage toys; sterling flatware and hollowware; linens and textiles; painted cottage furniture; Canton; Chinese Export; 18 th C. cookware; bamboo; cut glass; Hall pottery; Fenton glass; late 18 th C. - early 19 th C. furniture; country store items; antique bottles; tins and tools. There will be Yellow ware and sponge ware; vintage designer handbags; vintage clothing, shoes and hats; Bakelite and designer costume jewelry; antique jewelry; Oriental carpets; country furniture in paint and original finish; vintage garden and patio furniture and accessories; lighting; books; vintage bottles and CT milk bottles; painted Mid-Century French furniture; Victorian and vintage cast and wrought iron; Colonial arms and accoutrements; Mid 20 th C. Modern furniture; woodenware; wire baskets; advertising; boxes; primitives; ironstone; galvanized tubs and laundry items. Expect to find early Americana including that of local interest; paintings; children's collectibles; nautical/marine antiques and fine art; Victorian folk art; shell art; antique watches and clocks; farming instruments; planters; Mexican vintage silver jewelry; formal furniture; decoys; fishing reels; Civil War items; vintage sporting memorabilia and a complete set of 1950's Stangl service for eight in the Provincial pattern. Suzy's A & S will be on hand to make deliveries as needed. The Madison Historical Society's exhibit, Madison's Civil War Years: At Home and at Arms , will be open from 11am - 4 pm at Lee's Academy adjacent to the Green. Great food will be available from Catered by James as will Kettle Corn. Admission is $7 (12 and under free) with $1 off one admission with an ad. Dogs are not permitted.
